Skylab 4 Apollo Spacecraft

Skylab 4 First Stage S-IC Erecting

The first stage (S-IC) of the Saturn IB that will launch the last crew to the space station was erected atop the mobile launcher pedestal in the VAB for the planned launch sometime between October and November of this year (1973). A very striking top down view as Skylab 4's S-IC is being lowered onto the Mobile Launcher's pedestal inside the massive Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) at the Cape.

Skylab 4 Roll Out

A fine overall shot taken from the top of the Vehicle Assembly Building of the Skylab 4 space vehicle as it started its 5 mile move to Pad B of Launch Complex 39 at the Cape. The roll out started at 7 a.m. EST as the Saturn IB atop its mobile launcher emerged from the VAB with an estimated 1,500 guests from the surrounding communities on hand to witness the beginning of the move.

Seen through some Florida brush as the SA-208 Saturn IB inches it way up the special built crawlerway at a whopping 1 mile an hour and will take at least 6 hours to reach the launch pad.
